Andrew Borbely is a junior at UIUC majoring in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a concentration in Food Science. He shows a strong interest in product development, sustainability, and fermentation. He and another intern have recently co-founded the Illini Fermentation Club where he serves as the Vice President. Drew began his time here at FSHN-PPP and IBRL in August of 2018 where he has gained experience and skills in a plant and lab setting working with industrial equipment along with product and process development. Drew has accepted an offer with PepsiCo in Valhalla, NY for a Summer 2020 internship working in the R&D department. After graduation he hopes to continue to work in research and development with a CPG company or to go to graduate school to earn a master’s degree in Food Science or Fermentation Sciences.
